House

This is a drawing of my house that I drew using the pen tool in illustrator. I used a reference image of my house that I took with my phone camera. This image uses the elements color, line and shape. I kept the color scheme relatively close to the actual colors in the picture. My drawing mostly consists of straight lines but I used curved lines to draw the shape of the bushes. Since my house is predominantly one color I tried to add more variety by using different shades of green for the bushes. I think the most successful thing about this piece is that it is pretty accurate to the original image.

Shoe Repetition

I made this drawing by copying and pasting the drawing I did of my vans shoe. By copying and pasting the image, it created an interesting pattern. When I drew the shoe i wanted to add color so that it was more interesting than just the original white shoe. Lines are very prevalent in this piece because they create the movement of the drawing. This drawing is symmetrical and uses the elements line and color. I think the most successful thing about this piece is that you can tell that this image is composed of a shoe, but it makes its own drawing when the shoe is repeated and flipped.

Mountains

This is a drawing of a mountain landscape that I drew using the paintbrush and pen tool in illustrator. This drawing uses the elements color and line. I used the pen tool to draw jagged lines for the mountains so they would look more realistic. I used the paintbrush tool to make curved lines for the clouds so they would look like actual fluffy clouds. I used vibrant colors because I wanted to draw a sunset scene and typically the sky is made up of oranges and purples. I think the most successful thing about this piece is that it looks realistic, but the colors are more vibrant which makes it look more like a cartoon.

IDENTITY LOGO FOR PRINT- MIRRORED IMAGE

Identity Logo

This logo combines two things I like which are music and art. I drew an image on paper and used the live trace tool to convert the pixels to vectors. I made the drawing one continuous logo by making the music note look like a paint sample on the palette. This drawing uses the elements of line, shape and color. I used the live paint bucket to color in the outline of the logo.  The logo is composed of many shapes such as the paint splotches on the palette. I think the most successful thing about this drawing is that it looks like one continuous design and all the pieces look like they fit well together.

Fairey Portrait

This is a portrait of myself done in the style of Shepard Fairey. I used a minimalist color scheme that used different values of purples. Along with value this portrait utilises color, line, and shape. I used lines to draw the outline of the portrait and then used the live paint bucket to fill in the different shapes and shadows. I used a flower design because in some of his work he uses a flower pattern. I chose the word dream because I've always tried to dream big. I think the most successful thing about this portrait is how it accurately reflects the Shepard Fairey style.
